The trend of torn and worn jeans has come and gone over the years and I did partake in it in the past, if only to a degree. But c'mon who doesn't think Brandy's jeans are utterly RIDICULOUS(picture courtesy of usmagazine.com)? The rest of her outfit I like, but did she momentarily lose her mind? Or maybe she didn't have a mirror available before she walked out the door?At least Kate, Lauren and Nicole did it better, below, (picture from people.com). And Tabitha from the adorable Fresh Mommy blog looks gorgeous and effortless in her torn faded blues here!
But to be honest I probably won't be pulling out my scizzors or running out to buy a pair anytime soon. Readers, what do you think?
If you're hip to the trend here are some options below: Forever 21 has a tamer option for $29.80. Arden B. has a version on sale for $59. OR, pull out an old pair of jeans you haven't worn in awhile or buy a pair from a thrift store, and try out the look using
scizzors or a razor blade. You can also click on the Smarter website on my sidebar to compare some brands and prices!

that picture of Brandy is just yuck from the waist down. From the waist up, nice!
That is totally yuck from the waist down! If she didn't do that herself, I shudder to think that those jeans cost in the triple digits!
I know kill me, but I kinda like them! I have an older pair that look like fresh mommy's!
This reminds me of a pair of pants I had in high school that I loved and wore so much they ended up with a big hole ripped at the knee. I couldn't repair that, and was really upset about it ... until that whole '80s ripped jeans style came out about a year later. People were paying money for ripped jeans so I just happily took mine out again!
I recently saw a pair of ripped jeans in an ivory color that looked cute, and considered getting them, but I'm glad I held back. I just don't think this is a style that suits anyone, even with the most casual and bohemian clothes. I read in a book I just bought, by Isaac Mizrahi, where he warns anyone over the age of 14 to stay away from jeans that are ripped, bleached, etc., because he thinks they look cheap and kind of sloppy. I have to agree.
This is one of those looks I wore as a teenager and I got my fill then! This time around I'll pass. ^_^
Haha, thanks for the mention!! I really like my pair (notice I said pair, singular) My other preference is dark denim in boot cut or skinny to tuck into my boots!
Brandy's are horrible, but the others not too bad. :)
i'm all about this trend, but done in moderation. brandy's jeans look like chaps and just look silly.
What is it they say, "If you wore it the first time around..." Yeah. I won't be going here again. And, honestly, now that I'm older I finally understand why my mom thought ripped jeans were ridiculous when I begged for them years ago. :)
Can't do it. Never have, never will.
And seriously, Brandy ... you're so adorable. What were you SMOKING when you threw those on?
Yeah, Brandy took it too far. There were some slit-knee jeans at oaknyc.com that were my favorite take on this look but they're sold out :-(
I just don't see the point in paying for frayed or worn jeans. At least do it yourself! And Brandy is ridiculous. Her jeans look like chaps.
hey honey.i like ripped jeans but Brandy's are super adventurous.

This whole post makes me go "UGH." Why, people? You're RICH! You can afford a complete pair of jeans!
I like that last pair best. It's a little more subtle.
I'm totally having Poison flashbacks....Unskinny Bop Bop!!
