I have always used Oil of Olay gentle foaming cleanser because I can put it on my eyes and remove my mascara along with the rest of my make-up (because I'm lazy and don't want to use a separate eye make-up remover).
I follow with Oil of Olay toner ( a toner for dry skin, an astringent for oily skin is supposed to be the rule of thumb).
Next I use some type of night-time moisturizer/wrinkle fighting cream. I've switched around and tried several throughout the years, but have never found anything that knocked my socks off.
I also have tried to use different eye creams over the years but then decided it was just "stuff" added to my routine and a waste of my time!
For day-time, I use Aveeno moisturizer with an SPF.
I will preface what I say next by telling you I have dry skin and it has gotten worse over the years. I can slather lots of moisturizer on it and it will soak right in!
So, just recently I have tried two new products that I am so excited about!
One is this Roc Wrinkle Serum that actually tingles on my face and feels likes it's tightening it. I use it before the moisturizing. It's about $20 for a small 1 oz. bottle and I have yet to see how long it will last me. I mean, it's nothing completely earth shattering, but I feel like my skin looks and feels better- maybe it's just getting enough hydration now.

And the second thing that I've tried is Purity Made Simple cleanser. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT! It is by Philosophy and I got it as a sample with my 3 in 1 bath products.
You can use it on your whole face, including your eyes and mascara. It literally MELTS the make-up away, there's no other way to decribe it. It dissolved my mascara and I do not have to keep applying it to get left over clumps off! Plus it's very mild to my sensitive skin!
It is supposed to be all natural and is available at Sephora. The 3 oz. size is $10, and goes up from there. Not totally budget friendly but right now, worth it for me.
So, it got me thinking: Has anyone else had the same success with these two products?
What's your beauty routine, readers?
***Addendum: Question from Kirsten at Barking Dog Shoes: I have a permanent shine to my nose and would LOVE to know what you or other readers might recommend to combat that (other than the Clean and Clear blue blotters).*** Readers, I am going to defer to you right now......

Cetaphil to cleanse, then a range of Paula's Choice products which I love and my skin has never looked better!
I have heard alot about the Roc brand- I always see it in magazines and have wondered about it! Maybe I'll give it a go!
Cetaphil (well, the store brand equivalent to save a few bucks) to wash morning and night since it takes everything off. Have used it for years and never regretted it. Then I use a store-brand equivalent eye cream (a.m. and p.m.), a topical cream to combat any minor breakouts I need to destroy, and lately Aveeno's daily moisturizer, which has been the best I've ever used as far as not provoking any breakouts. I have combination skin that can start to look really enflamed if I am not careful, so it's been hard to find a good blend of products that work for me, but so far, so good.
Now...if I could just get rid of the barely used products I have that I have laying around!
I love Philosophy products. Maybe for a Mother's Day gift...
I think I might go back to Cetaphil as it's budget friendly and works. My skin is SOOO combination. I have a permanent shine to my nose and would LOVE to know what you or other readers might recommend to combat that other than the Clean and Clear blue blotters.
My absolute favorite moisturizer is Kiehl's Abyssine cream but I can't afford it right now.
I use purity too and I love it, as well as the supernatural foundation. sorry, no suggestions for shine-I have combination skin though!
I use M.A.C. blotting powder for my shine! I just blot my nose with the brush to cover the shine during the day (I keep it in my purse.)
I use Vichy ,Nomaderm's gel for cleanser.I'm happy with it as my face feels fresh and clean (but it does not clean eye make-up). and after that I use L'Oreal Skin Genesis lotion just for moisturize ( both day and night) I've been using them for about a year .they absorbs very fast. and then for the sunscreen I use Happyderm it's very light which I like a lot
I find that using a primer helps control my shine during the day. I can't use alot of moisturizer either. I use cetaphil to wash my face too.
I've used Mary Kay Timewise moisturizer for years and I like it. But now that I'm finally beginning to uderstand what "fine lines" are, I'm looking for something more age-fighting.
I've heard that the the Alpha Hydrox souffle is EXCELLENT, but I haven't purchased any yet.
I wash daily with Pro-Activ b/c, even in my 30s, I still get break outs and Pro-Activ keeps my skin wonderfully clear!
maybe I'll buy it to make my skin be beautiful...... aha........ nice tips.......
for the shine on my face I try to combat it before I even put on makeup and moisturizer. Toners are key and should get one that has no alcohol yet cleans FULLY like Phytomer Rose Toner

also, throughout the day I keep Bare Minerals Mineral Veil loose powder in my purse and just put it on whenever I see shine on my face, it absorbs oil and its translucent, its awesome stuff, i cant live without it.

i agree with the bare minerals...i make sure to put on bare mineral powder foundation, followed by bare minerals mineral veil...and it really helps.
hey, christina lee, i'm a fan of YOUR blog. thanks for visiting me today. it was a treat to see your comment.:)
I've used Purity-Philosophy for the longest and loved it!!!
Just recently made a change...I've heard great reviews on Cetaphil, so when my purity finished i bought it...so far its been Great!!
i've used purity before and it is incredible! stalk the nordstroms site for when they have their anniversary sale. they sell a huge liter bottle of it and it will last you the entire year.
i use:
cetaphil soap with the clarisonic brush
mandelic acid serum
a few drops of sweet almond oil mixed with moisturizer
MAC fast response eye cream
eye cream is important, girlie! i don't wear it every day but I should. the constant pulling and tugging will eventually show and the most moisturized and supple we keep the area around our eyes, the less wrinkles we will see.
