Spring/Summer 2009: Beige

How do you feel about beiges and tans seen in stores and on the Spring 2009 runways?

I personally love these colors and wear them alot-but they can look monotone and wash you out!

On its own, Beige is a calming, neutral color. You definitely see it alot in shoe colors alongside vibrant dresses on the red carpet.
But it can also be a chameleon, taking on some of the characteristics of warm or cool colors.

Use your beiges, tans and neutrals as a backdrop for color, or on its own as a cooler alternative for the heat of summer.

Yes those neutrals are the plain blank canvas. Paint them with accessories :)

I really love that dress you selected.

They tend to wash me out too much, but I do use them, as you suggest, as a background for a real splash of colour. It's the only way I'd ever be able to pull them off myself.

I fear beige. FEAR!

I think a few years ago Ann Taylor Loft had an excess of beige going on...and ever since then I've been so sick of it. I do like that beige layered dress in your collage though. Super cute!

Like Sal, I fear beige because it will wash me out but if I had so much as a tan, I'd be all over it! Also loving that petal bag you found at Baghaus, too cool.

Love the F21 pleated top!

Beige looks absolutely hideous near my face, but I do like it for bottoms ... sometimes. It's a great canvas for white or pastel tops, though I usually wear faded denim with those. I haven't found a good beige trouser or skirt in years, but hope I can.

They totally wash me out. Though I do love the khaki shirt dresses!

I like the beige and neutral colors, but I would definitely add a pop of color with a bright accessory.

I love tan but steer clear of beige as my mum wears enough of that colour for both of us.

I like beige a lot, but for some unknown reason I don't really own a lot of beige :( I've been trying to pick up a pair of beige heels, but haven't really found anything I just cannot live without! ::sniff:: ::sniff:: I agree that I think a entire beige outfit is a too monotone! Unless perhaps you added a splash of color like earrings or a necklace then it might look fab

I can't rock it near my face either but in a skirt or a shoe I'm totally down for!
