Wearing White Bottoms

I used to shy away from white bottoms of any kind for several reasons.

One reason was because I was afraid they would make my bottom look heavier (the opposite of black-slimming).

Another reason was I hated panty lines and the way undergarments showed through.

The last reason is I didn't want to get them dirty, quickly, knowing my clumbsiness rate.

But now I have the formula for them DOWN. When looking for white pants or skirts, go for thicker material and some kind of pockets on the behind (covers panty troubles); with skirts, go with multi-layered or thicker materials, so nothing shows through!

Some thing like these pants with flap or welt pockets on the back and substantial material-cargos dont work for everyone, though, because of the side pockets adding volume):

Or these bermuda shorts (again substantial cotton blend material with some sort of pocket on the back):

Or a white denim pencil skirt with same pricipals as above:

All of the above were from Old Navy!

If you want to buy a feminine cirlce skirt, I would choose one with more than one layer, like this one from Target:

As far as getting them dirty and clumsiness are concerned- nothing has changed. But they wash pretty well. You're bound to get stains over a couple of seasons of wear-so go for budget friendly pieces or good 'ol bleach!

Drawn to the pencil skirt. It's been years since I've worn anything white pants, and I fear I'd have a stain on them before I ever had them out of the store (I am JUST THAT messy sometimes!), but I may have to give it a shot again!

I lived in fear of white bottoms for ages, too, but I've finally embraced them. Great tips for making whites work!

Bleach is your friend for white!

I haven't tried mineral makeup. I've always had problems with severe acne until lately, when it just comes up occasionally. Does it make you break out? My skin's real oily...

I have a pair of white capris that I just wore for the first time this season. I also came thisclose to buying a long white flowy skirt @ Old Navy but talked myself out of it. I may just go back this weekend and pick it up!

I totally agree. You have to be careful with white bottoms. I just bought a pair of white shorts, and I made sure that there were pockets and the material was thicker. Great finds and tips!

just watch the undergarment color! even with pockets, white pants will have show-through in the middle and your dark thong will be super-obvious! go nude or light pink or something... i see so many girls with tell-tale dark lines down the middle of the pockets. horrible!

Budget Babe and Thrifty Stylist- GREAT things to remember-wear nude bottoms and watch out for front pockets that show through and look sloppy or strange!

I'll wear a white skirt in summer, but always worry about the dirt issue - I tend to drop too much stuff on myself!
