This Krooom storage stool is at Target!
Would you put it in your house, or maybe on your deck or backyard?

For some strange reason it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood books by Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree. When I would read it to my second graders their eyes would fill with wonder- the pages are all in black and white-so you do have to use your imagination!

Anyway, it reminded me of the last scene in the tear-jerker of a book, when the little boy, grown into an old man, sat on it's stump, and "the tree was happy"! I once knew a guy who had this exact tatoo on his ankle and I was fascinated that he chose that as his tatoo-I kept asking about it- all he would tell me was that it was his favorite book. Hmmm...

OHHH, I so love children's books! Especially those that compel you to feel things, and wonder things, etc... my other favorite is The Sneetches by Dr. Suess ("No, you can't teach a Sneetch"), among many others.
Readers, what are some of your favorite childhood books? Ones that affected you most?

Oh, there are too many Dr. Suess books to name! I love the the take on the stool-LOL!
This is one of our favorites! Anything by Shel is great.
I recenly pulled a couple of Shel's poetry books from my basement storage for my boys to read. They've read his works before, and I've had these others since my oldest was just a baby. I love his books, especially The Giving Tree. I have a coworker at the bookstore, though, who loathes that book! She's passionate in her dislike of the child/man and his, in her opinion, selfishness.
My favorite childhood books were Judy Blume's books. I have some of my original copies, and have given my oldest son her young reader books, and now my youngest is a comfortable enough reader to enjoy things like Super Fudge. Probably not the best for tattoos, but I do love the idea of the one you mentioned!
I loved the Frances books growing up!
The Frog Prince Continued. It's hilarious. And the True Story of the Three Little Pigs.
It would look cute on the patio, but definitely not in the house...

HI from SITS. The one I remember most fondly is Corduroy. I particularly liked the one where he loses hit button in the dept. store. Now that I have two year old boys I love A TON of books. I hit the library for loads of books for them even though I know who they are REALLY for!
I love The Giving Tree!!! I liked all of Shel Silverstein's books.

Hi Christina! Saw your comment over on Shelli's site. We're aspiring YA authors living in Cleveland as well. Our book is currently on submssion to publishers and it's sort of hellish.
Ooh, and we're totally fashion obsessed. Love your blog!
And our favorite children's book has got to be Nancy Drew. She inspired the book that's out on sub.
cute! i would so put that on my patio!
the giving tree makes me cry every time, from reading it aloud to my son to having it read in psychology class (a bit embarrassing).
don't know about the stump for my own personal tastes but it is cute ;)
