Remember When: Jellies and Dr. Scholl's

I don't know, maybe it was just a mid-western thing, but I remember dying to have these two kinds of shoes in the late 70's, early 80's: JELLIES, in pink, and DR. SCHOLL'S, in tan.

Oh, I got them both. At the local drugstore, after BEGGING my mom.

Then I wore them proudly-even though each did a number on my feet.

Oh, the sweating and strap marks(from the jellies) and the irritation (from the Scholl's, which were a size too small). And the maddening clop, clop, clop of the Scholl's.

hee-hee ;)

I loved jellies when I was younger and they gave me the most terrible blisters. Never again.
But I do have several pairs of the new Dr. Scholl's I bought on the website and on ebay. They are awesome!

I rememmber wearing my much desired jellies for about two days before caving in defeat. Those things hurt!

But the Dr. Scholls!! Oh, they, too, were so uncomfortable (and they did not make my legs sleek, long, and sexy as promised!), but I remember clomping around in those things forever. I had the tan pair, too, because they went with everything! Ha!

I was so into the jellies...they hurt my feet but wore them anyway. I have a pair of Dr. Scholls that I bought three years ago...a pair of white sandals that I wear to dog shows. They look like something my six-year-old would wear but I needed a flat sandal that had a rubber sole so I could chase after a dog if need be, but I could couple with a dress. Every time I pull those babies out of the closet my kids roll their eyes... :-)

Melissa B--Crocs in bankruptcy? Really?

Just stopped by on a visit from SITS. What a great blog! I hope you have a great weekend and that you'll visit me too at Sweeterliving...

Greetings from Spain

oh jellies, I loved jellies.

I'd also love to get your thoughts on the perfect black ballet flats. I'm planning on splurging on a pair for my b-day in October. I want them to be fashionable, comfortable and wear well. Preferably a fun designer. Let me know what you think.

I had the jellies! And the maker of Crocs is facing bankruptcy. If you don't have them already, get the Crocs Cypress. AMAZING. Its the Croc heel.

I just love the updated jellies. Melissa shoes are some of my favorites, all made from recycled plastic!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm glad you did, because it led me here, to find this post on gellies, and I'm happy to report that in West and central Africa, men -- yes, men -- wear those old-school gellies all the time! They claim they're cool yet also durable, perfect for soccer... I only remember them as uncomfortable (yet stylish, of course).

I didn't ever have the dr scholls, but I had a pair of jellies in the gladiator sandal style that you posted above! All those years ago - I was soooo ahead of my time, lol.

I wasn't allowed to have jellies because my parents alway bought me real o flip flops either. The jellies always looked like they made your feet smell.

Man, I rocked the Jellies for the longest time. My uncle even picked up a few for me from Egypt that had straps and heels ..and GLITTER in them. Best summer ever.
