I owned a pair in the 80's/90's and wish I still did because they were built to last.

Anyway, I saw a women in the grocery store this week wearing a tall black pair with a skirt and I kept stalking her to get a better view. She looked so cool.
So I've decided that I want to look cool again. The ones shown below are from Zappos for $135.

I want to be as hip as Kristen Stewart:

Or Angie from You Look Fab:
Or Audi from Fashion For Nerds:
Do you or did you own a pair of Docs?

Hi, Coming to you by way of SITS. Yes, I remember...I had a pair too. I loved mine. I wore them everywhere. They went with everything. My feet were comfy and cozy in them too. I don't remember whatever happened to them. Sad to say....
I still have mine from high school. They are built to last. I still wear them every so often. I LOVE them. Not sure I look cool in them. but I don't really care. They make me happy and that's what counts. I say go for it SITSta :o)
I don't, and haven't. But I'm totally sure you could still rock them!
Downsizing before this last move I got rid of 2 pairs of Docs (mary janes and black and white oxfords), but I kept my Doc boots. I haven't worn them in years, but nostalgia made me hang on to them. This past weekend I wore them out dancing to an 80s themed club. It made me remember how comfortable they can me......they might need to start getting some more wear.
I had a brown pair in high school that I wore into the GROUND. Now I've got these instead: http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w[0]=search%3Abill&pp=1&view=detail&p=1&colourID=2450
My husband and I spent the better part of our SINGLE day in London on our honeymoon (almost 9 years ago) searching for the original Doc Martens store!
While there, I purchased a pair of leather sandals that I finally just gave away a few years ago because they were going out of style, but could probably have survived a nuclear disaster they were so well made.
I also had a pair of lace-up low-tops. Alas, I thought DMs were out, but everything old is new again, right?
I'm not sure I could do the black boots though. Maybe a little too combat-ish for me... They are cool, though.
I think they might even bit too cool for me ;o)
I never had them but I am looking for a pair now. THey are just too darn expensive where I live :(
i Too have been toying with the idea of getting the tall ones as well. back in the 90s i wanted them too but my parents will not buy them for me... so i still want them... lol but they are so pricey!
Sal, I just looked at yours--uber cool! they are shorter but cheaper!
I never owned them!, I would feel like a man in them. I envy women who looks super cute in them!
Owned a really cute pair of burgundy docs. Why the heck did I ever give them to Goodwill???
yep. I had plain old black oxford docs. wore them nearly every day!
Loved those shoes!!!
Oh God. I had the doc marten sandals--AWFUL!
No I don't own a pair :( Looks like they would take forever to lace up lol!
Nope never had any. I knew a girl in HS that always wore hers with long black flowy skirts. She was very artistic. Me not so much.
I don't remember whatever happened to them. Sad to say....
Work from home India
Sigh...I had a fantastic black pair in college and for a time afterward. I loved, loved, loved wearing them with dresses! I didn't realize how much I missed mine until I'd seen them around again!
I always wanted a pair of Docs in high school but could never afford them. Now they don't do much for me, for some reason. I guess they seem a bit too mannish looking. Which is weird, because I remember back in the day, thinking I'd just die without a pair!
I wonder if Pole Climbers will ever come back in style ...
They are built to last. My Hubby is wearing his today & has all week for work (in Corp. America). They've lasted forever.
Hi from sits! I did own many pairs of docs. I might even still have one...not sure. But yeah, I remember when!
YES! I love Docs...I currently own a shorter pair of purple patent boots...yes purple! I love them. In high school my boyfriend had a pair of the short boots that were silver glitter. Like a kindergarten art project exploded on them.
Pretty much the coolest shoes EVER :)
My husband has a brown pair that he still wears on a weekly basis...they are 12 years old. Need I say more?
Oh, yeah! I had two pairs. I often wonder why I still don't have them.
I still have my pair of 10-hole WHITE docs with rainbow stitching around the edges..they were sooo very hard to find.
no. and no.
I have uggs.
i'm such a yuppie. :(
Yes, lots. I love them all. I do want to get a new pair of the classic short boot type/oxfords. I love the boots in your post, though. Hmm...
