Oh the agony of the writer who leaves pieces of herself behind in the stories she creates: the tears, anger, frustration, insecurity, but also the awe, joy, and excitement. I'm reading Jennifer Egan's "A Visit from the Goon Squad" right now and the character hopping and time slippage between every chapter is making my brain smoke. It's heady stuff. Never seen anything like it.
