I remember the mortifying embarassment of soggy tomato sandwiches made with my mother's homemade wholemeal bread ... My kids have the same thing EVERY day, except the older one has a tuckshop lunch at school twice a week. I've suggested mixing things up, but they just look at me like I'm on drugs. They have two pieces of fruit, cheese and crackers, fruit leather, rice snacks, sandwiches and either biscuits (cookies) or a slice of homemade banana cake ... packing lunches is my second least favourite part of being a parent - my first is swimming lessons.

Love the memories conjured by my DIsney Bear Jamboree lunchbox. It was metal and smelled like old sandwiches. Hated when my mom packed tuna. My favorite sandwich? Cream cheese and green olive. My son would PUKE if I packed it for him.

Oh this is a fun post and a fun question. I can't remember what kind of lunch boxes I had though. I think maybe a Barbie was in there somewhere. :o)

lol...lunches must be on the mind this week! you know i've found that if i leave lunch made the night before it makes it so much easier in the morning. i just make the sandwich in the morning...and yes, i do the cookie cutters! lol...but i had a yellow california raisins lunchbox with the matching thermos... it was awesome!

Not really.

I'm just like you. I really hate making them. I think the key is to make them the night before, so you aren't stressed out the morning of.

And that lunch box brought me back. so cute! My kids actually WANT brown bags so they can throw the bag out and not have to lug one more thing around.

Oh, my...those artful sandwiches are almost intimidating! However, it might make making the 8 millionth peanut butter sandwich a bit more exciting!

My kids shockingly always take hot lunch. I know how picky they are, so I have to question how much they eat on some days, and there are many days each month when there's some kind of breaded chicken item on the menu that you'd think they'd tire of, AND we have about 12 different thermal lunch bags around here, but I guess it helps cut down on the peanut butter sandwiches I make!

I remember having a metal Peanuts lunch box with different cartoon frames of the character's faces around the edge. Loved that thing, and carried it for years.
