Healthy Snacks?

I'm proud of myself for being a good "worker bee" and sticking to a schedule, since working from home this past year and a half.

Sometimes, I even forget to eat lunch (shocking, even to me).

Still, I've managed to gain weight and it ain't coming off anytime soon. I was just much more active in my other job (teaching). Sitting all day and writing, or making jewelry is just, less so.

Lo and behold, I still get "the munchies."

So I've been making sure to have healthy snacks on hand- and something that includes a protein to keep me going for longer, like:

Apples and Peanut Butter:

Or, String Cheese and Almonds:

But now I'm sick to death of those things. I heard Oprah snacks on oatmeal and bueberries- but I have to be in the mood for oatmeal.

What does everyone else snack on?

Here's a dessert that I love. I take one of those Weight Watchers round ice cream sandwiches, then add some of that light chocolate syrup, a tiny bit of pineapple ice cream topping, and some 5-calorie whipped cream. YUMMMM. I think it's maybe 4 points on Weight Watchers, if that much? The sandwich is 2 points, the whipped cream isn't even one, so it all depends how much pineapple and chocolate sauce you use.

When I was on weight watchers I was so creative with my snacks. I love skinny cow ice cream, some of the 100 calorie packs are good, baby carrots with fat free ranch, fruit bowl, I even love those kid fruit snacks, the hello kitty ones to be exact..only 90 cals and hits the spot.. I also love dates (look out for my post about dates this week!)

Almonds are a staple, as are Fiber One granola bars and pretzel Goldfish. Also yogurt, sliced red pepper and cucumber, bananas, and apples. If they didn't give me terrible digestive woes, I'd eat dried fruit, too!

Almonds, Fiber One bars, Yoplait yogurt (the Whips version, though a bit higher in calories than the lowfat version are actually like ice cream or frozen yogurt when you put them in the freezer - the chocolate Whip is delicious when frozen), Wheat Thin crackers, and, frozen grapes. I apparently love frozen, crunchy things!

Triscut crackers. They come in flavors now. A few of those make me feel like I've eaten something.

OH I can snack on carrots, celery and fruit, but I still feel hungry after.

I read somewhere that the more flavorful your snack is, the fuller and more satisfied you feel, and for longer (which makes me happy cuz I've never been able to snack on fruit - it's too sweet and actually makes me feel more crave-y). I love salsa with veggies to dip (do you know how few calories a service or two of your average salsa has? It's incredible... it's almost like a free snack) and I love, love, love hummus. I know, it's a few more calories than salsa, but it's protein, and so a little goes a long way.
