A Love Poem

....or "gettin' busy" poem, whichever way it translates for you. ;)

This is a take on Kat's writing prompt this week, to write a poem to your love, from Mama's Losing' It.

I've always kept some kind of a journal. I've also written lots of poems between the pages of my journals.

The other day my five-year-old was rummaging through my night stand for paper and pulled out one of my journals. Snatching it from his little hands before he could "borrow" a piece of paper to write the alphabet on, I sat down and began reading through it.

My eyes zeroed in on a poem I'd written about 15 years ago, way before marriage and kids.

Apparently at a time in my life that could only be described as, HARD UP!

I hadn't been in a relationship for awhile (having gotten out of a messy one) and was definitely dreaming about what real love would feel like (and apparently taste like...).

Check this out. I am still laughing about it.

I long for him.
The brilliance of his eyes,
blazing with fire for me.
The fullness of his lips,
nervously lingering to taste me.
The gentleness of his tongue,
lightly brushing against my teeth.
The smoothness of his skin,
caressing mine so intimately.
The excitement in his laugh,
simply and fully enjoying me.
The passion in his loving,
quelling the desirous beast in me.
I yearn for him.
One who will hold captive my soul,
Awakening every part of my being.

HA! Romance novels, here I come!

So honey, this one's for you. I have apparently found my "him". There is no other "him" for me. ;)
Happy Valentine's Day !

Visiting from Mama Kats...

Nothing like revisiting your old journals for some laughs! I should dig mine out ... I'm sure I could have weeks and weeks worth of posts from them!

Christina, I think it's pretty. It expresses deep longing, something we've all felt before.

Oh, I love it. I have a few poems like that pre-marriage. Love the "quelling of the desirous beast"--that's classic!

Stopping by from Mama Kat's. Love the new perspective on the old poem. I'd dig out some of my old journals, but I think I'd die of embarassment at some of the things I wrote.

Old journals and old poems often remind me of that song Unanswered Prayers. They truly can be the best gifts.

Oh, honey, this cracks me up because I guarantee you there are an assortment of journals in my nightstand drawers and I KNOW there's more than one that has something hauntingly familiar to this poem in it!

Oh that is so cute and romantic :) You are such a good writer. I don't think I have the writing talent, but I do want to get better at it. I should join in on Kat's weekly writing assignments.
