The Last Days of Summer

It's the last few days before Evan begins first grade *sobs* and we're trying to make the most of our fleeting summer.

So we've stayed up late to do important things, like:
Using our telescope to look at the constellations...
...and the surface of the moon (so very cool)!

Camping in our backyard and eating s'mores...
...and catching fireflies so we can gaze at them with wonder.

Yeah, all of that!

*sigh* Goodbye summer break, you've been good to us!

Those look like some great things to do in the final days of summer vacation! Yesterday, my family took a day trip to Cape May to visit with friends and play around on their boat. I am not usually one to agree to 5 hours in the car for a few hours at the destination -- but I am SO GLAD we did it. It was a great way to finish off the summer.

I am back to the teaching job tomorrow ... bleh.

I'll bet you'll enjoy Evan's first grade year.

We have two more days til school too. Summer flew by!
When my oldest went to first grade was harder when he went to kindergarten because he was gone all day and I seriously missed him so much! My youngest will go to kindergarten in a few days while my oldest goes to sixth grade. I will be a blubbering mom!

I have to admit I'm excited to see summer go only because it will be that much closer to when the hubs will be home (4 weeks) but all your pictures make me miss those lazy days of summer with family (who live too far). Enjoy! Smores are really the best ;)

I want to come to your end of summer bash! Mine consisted of endless laundry and counting to ten over and over so as not to make any children bleed, just kidding! But they did fight A LOT yesterday!

The end of summer is SO HARD! I know the kids are excited to go back to school, but I wish they could be home all the time. I'm glad you had a memorable last week with Evan at home. :)

WOw. Sounds like your end of summer is going well. I wish your child luck in the first grade and you as well, for having to watch him go.

That all sounds wonderful. I wish I had a telescope. I keep telling myself it's the first thing I'll buy when I make any money writing. Enjoy those last few days of summer!

Sounds perfect. I miss fireflies, we don't have them in California.

Sucks that summer's almost over, but at least one of us is having a blast. Better send me some of that summer mojo, you hear? :)
