FALL into place

My Sun News column this week is about Fall 2010: what's hot in stores right now, and what Autumn means to me.

My favorite seasons are Spring and Fall. They both offer relief from the extremes of Winter and Summer. And I like to live in that middle grey area (only in season, NOT in state of mind).

But it's not really grey, is it?

It's gorgeous colors:
Crisper, cooler temperatures (and I always forget what I have stored away in my closet, so it's like discovering a new wardrobe every time):

Football Season (we ARE a hard-core football town):
AND fantastic smells that remind me of comfort: pumpkins, apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg *sigh*
Oh, and for the stylistas out there, according to The Pantone Color Report, the top ten colors of the season are:

And IMO, we'll pretty much see more of the same--flowers, ruffles, ruching, metal and grommet details on sleeves, collars etc.

BRING IT!

I love fall as well for many of the same reasons. I also like that you can pull out comfy sweaters and eat soup and stews and bread. Well, I will eat the bread for you.

Fall is definitely my favorite season, basically for all the reasons you mentioned--awesome clothes, colors, football, and fall baking! Can't wait to break out the trench coat!

At first I was thinking, "No way, SUMMER IS THE BEST" but then you totally hit the nail on the head when you mentioned football and the smells of fall. Those are two incredibly awesome things. :)

Other than the colder, rainier weather (like right now!!!), I love fall. Helps that red and yellow are my favorite colors.

You are spot on, especially about finding hidden treasures in the closet at this time of year. It's time for homemade baked goods, an extra blanket on the couch and thank goodness for opening the windows and airing out the house!

I generally miss fall. Where I live we don't have that drastic changing of the leaves. I'm not even sure we lose our leaves till December! Palm tree's sort of get in the way of that fall feeling but I do love that at least our temperatures drop out of the extreme summer heat. AND football season! That reminds me I have to check my fantasy roster before tonights game...football nut!

Lot's of amazing photos, you even had a cool one yesterday, the Blue Angels, although I didn't get to comment.

I love the Fall, for several reasons, but especially the football! I'm a big Vikings fan but I just love the sport in general. At least the Browns should be better this year, right?

Summer is my favorite season, but I love autumn too! I love football and pumpkin pie and Halloween and my birthday!!! I love the colors, too, especially orange!

I never thought of fall as living in the grey area between seasons. But it is! Awesome. I love fall though because I love color and it's such a gorgeous time of year. Plus, I'm not big on being overheated so it's such a relief for the cool and crisp temperature to come in. I'm so done with heat!

I need to update my wardrobe for fall. Oh sigh. Goodbye money.

I could live in eternal Fall, and just visit folks living in other seasons... thanks for the pretty pix and the accurate terms for this year's colors... have a great day and come visit when you can...

Jeez, now I'm hungry after seeing those freakin' pies!! You evil person, you!

:) Seriously, I love fall for similar reasons. Especially the I-didn't-know-that-was-in-my-closet one. Happens every time.

I don't like changing from shorts and sandals to jeans. But still do love fall. I love the smell of burning leaves and when it's sunny and cool. And it's much better than winter!

Spring is pretty and full of beautiful pastel colors. I too love the fall colors and it's a great time to bake. However I am not into football at all but I know my husband loves this time of year.

I look forward to fall so I can wear some different clothes! I get tired of the cold weather quickly though. Luckily, it doesn't stay cold here too long!
