First Crushes

My friend emailed me about attending her high school reunion and seeing my first crush (he went to that other catholic school across town).

Apparently, she mentioned my name and he "remembered me."

Um, he better! Remember the back seat of that crappy Chevy Nova and...and... *sigh*

Just because he was my first crush didn't mean I was his! He was older, after all.

So it got me thinking about my childhood and boys and crushes.

I was a total 70's-early 80's wild child.

And I copied my older sister a lot.

When she hung up posters of Shaun Cassidy from The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries series (am I aging myself?), I hung the other heart-throb in the series: Parker Stevenson!

Oh.Yeah.Baby *bow-chicka-wow-wow*

And when she hung up David Cassidy from The Partridge Family on her bedroom wall, I hung up teen idol/singer: Leif Garrett!

That's right. uh.huh.

How do these *hotties* compare to the characters in my YA books?

Hmm...my hotties are more quiet and unassuming, but they do seem to bushy hair and pretty eyes. :D

These are men? They kind of look like chicks.

Just kidding, love your openness Christina!

All the rage at the time Matthew. I also had a thing about Leif - sigh.

What gets me is how early these crushes start! My straight-A daughter, a sixth grader, recently brought home a string of less-than-desirable science grades. "Well, you know who her lab partner is," my husband grinned. Well, no, I didn't! Turns out, it's WILL...my daughter's fifth grade crush! Guess it's kinda hard to concentrate in class!

I was so boy crazy! I had a different crush every week! (the celebrity kind and unassuming boys at school)
I had pictures from The Outsiders on my walls, especially C. Thomas Howell and MattDillon. And a big Duran Duran poster. I still think they are all hot!

My guess is that we are exactly the same age! I always thought Parker was the cuter of the Hardy Boys...but there was something about Shaun, too. (But I never had posters up....my sister had David Cassidy, and well, I didn't like having that poster staring at me.......)

Never got the Leif Garret thing, though.

Question: (And we are moving a little forward in time, here) The Police or Duran Duran?

Aw, so cute! I never hung up posters on my wall, but I was totally in love with Orlando Bloom. Like, embarrassingly so. Sigh.

My teen heartthrobs....well, I was in love with Jowy Lawrence, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp! Oh, I can't forget Uncle Jesse from Full House! I was always into the older guys growing up!

I remember thinking David Cassidy was cute. But not enough to hang his picture. I am not even sure my sister did. Haha. She probably did. I copied my sis too.

PS Don't date yourself..it dates me too. :P

Pretty eyes for the win! Bushy hair can be very attractive. I like the unassuming characters. I've got one myself in my books!

Thanks for the pictures.

You're going to the reunion right? Show off how good you look :P

Mine has always been John Travolta.
I don't remember too many as a teen.

First crush movie star crush was Richard Burton. He was magnificent in The Robe and his voice permeated my soul... Had we met in person at the time, I would have run for the hills but he was a great crush...

I used to LOVE watching the Hardy Boys (I turned 40 this year *sigh*), but I never thought either of them were that cute. I do remember thinking Andy Gibb and Leif were cute, though. But I was pretty young, so I didn't have posters of them, or understand what 'cute' really meant.
(I also used to love Charlie's Angels and begged my older step sister to work on my hair for hours to get it to do the Farrah. Again, I was very young/elementary school.)
But in the 80's in middle school and high school... oh how I loved so many 'rock stars'! I had plenty of crushes by that point, as well as posters, and LOTS of records. I remember seeing Tommy at the midnight theater and thinking Roger was gorgeous. And Sting. 'Jake' from 16 Candles. Rob Lowe. David Bowie. OMG Matt Dillon in Little Darlings! I could keep going on forever...

Fun post!

I had such a thing for River Pheonix. It broke my little heart when he passed away so young.
