The Five Senses Of Summer: SOUND

The pop and boom of fireworks.

The sizzle and snap from the grill.

The splash and plop after the dive.

The tinny hollow from an aluminum bat.

What sounds remind you of summer?

I've never thought about the sounds off summer. The sounds of late spring kind of blend into the those of summer, like the giggles and screams of kids playing at the playground.

Stina, it does bleed in and I had to really think about it. But there's a definite difference for me. :D

Well, meat and veggies sizzling on the grill is year round for me, but the sound of fireworks (or sometimes gunshots, here in redneck county) definitely speaks of summer.

Also: crickets.

Love it! I always think about lying by a pool, listening to kids scream and laugh and parents gossiping. That sound is so summer to me. :)

Matt, yeah it would be year round for some! Winters are brutal here, so it definitely represents summer for me!

This post really brings summer alive. The crack of a bat hitting a baseball and the children's laughter are some of my favorite summer sounds.

Birds, bugs, lawnmowers, and the wind blowing through the trees. I love summer so much!

The sun going down at 830 at night. Waiting until 9:30 for the fireworks. Ice cream on a hot day. Sprinklers--you know the old school kind. Kids outside when the sun is setting but not dark. All of that.
