Wordless (or Wordful) Wednesday: Ahoy Mateys

So we became boater's this summer!
And it's been a HUGE learning curve.

My friend's father sadly passed away last November. He was a big boater/fisherman.

She wanted to keep his boat and asked us to go in on it with them. We live on Lake Erie, so how could we resist? Plus it felt good to help preserve something of her dad's.

Our inherited boat's name is FILOMENA (her grandmother's name).

Don't worry FILOMENA, we'll keep you safe and sound (I hope).

Here's what the Cleveland shoreline looks like from the boat:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (on a foggy day-the skyline is obscured).

The William G. Mather ship docked in the bay.

Look at this wicked storm forming over the water. Needless to say, we hightailed it out of there, pronto!

p.s. Go here to link up to another Wordful Wednesday:

Great pics. I love the boat too. I've never been sailing on anything smaller than a ferry (unless those airboat rides count). It looks like fun. :)

You lucky lady...I so miss sailing with my family...it's a great adventure and will give you lots of tales to tell...we did our sailing around the Delmarva Peninsula and got to enjoy lots of storms(!)...happy boating!

How awesome! I've always wanted a boat, but have no boating experience or background. Hope you have loads of fun with Filomena this summer!

The hubs has always wanted a boat, but I put my foot down everytime! Mean, Justine! To me, it's too much work, too much money, and really - I don't have the spare time to go to the beach. I'd love to, but I know the boat would sit in the garage and rot away. Plus, we spend so much time (and money) on the horse thingy, a boat would be a downer.

It seems like you enjoy it, so good for you!

Oh wow! I'm jealous! My grandpa owned a boating store called Cleveland Yacht and Supply. We grew up on Lake Erie, but sadly we don't have boats anymore. You're going to have a blast on the water this summer!

That's so cool. I'm sure it is like her grandpa's boat has been reborn.
