The Real ME

This post was inspired by Lourie who challenged me to let it all hang out.

And to my silly readers who complained they talk to an avatar of me and don't even know who I am (I DO have a real picture of me, on my About Me page)!

So here goes, the REAL me:

* The first thing I do every morning upon waking, is turn on the computer and coffee.

* The last thing I do before bed, is make sure our doggie is in our room, and my six-year-old is tucked in and breathing (an old habit from infancy days).

*Sometimes I encourage use of the computer, x-box, or television, to get a break from my active little boy (uh-huh, I said it).

*Since I work from home, I sometimes stay in my sweats all.day.long.

*I never iron (dryer and Downy Wrinkle Releaser spray, all the way) and up 'til a month ago, I didn't have a closet light (couldn't see a damn thing). But somehow, I still come off looking like a stylista (HA-mostly).

* I'd rather multi-task with emails and texts, than talk on the phone.

*I'm so sappy that I'll admit to sometimes looking for the cheesiest romantic comedy to watch (Hello, Lifetime and Disney).

*On the other hand, I like to watch really dark, or complex things as well (let's see: Dexter, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Big Love). I am so multi-dimensional :D.

*I probably only cook 3-4 days a week. The other days I subject my family to frozen dinners, cans of soup, and sandwiches.

* But I love this little snuggle bunny to pieces:

Who will join me in letting it all hang out?

I love your truths, very real. I talk about myself and personal stuff on my blog all the time. I know they say you shouldn't but I haven't followed good advice very often in my life, so whatever. There are also picture of me on my blog, and my kids too in certain posts, but I'm on FB if you want to see better (or more embarrassing) ones.

Thanks for sharing Christina!

Loved this post! It's nice to find out more about you!!! Oh and I fully support computer time for the little one to help not only him wind down, but also you.

Let's see here... I wake up and shower immediately, then read a few pages of the novel I'm currently reading. Get to work 30 minutes early and blog my heart out... work my full day, with the occassional reading/blogging break. Go home, cook dinner, send the hubs off to school for his evening classes and blog/write/watch tv until my hearts content :)

I LOVE reading more about you! You've always got great advice to give and something to support it. It's nice to see you let it all hang out on this one!

I love your honesty. Often times, it's admitting our weaknesses that we relate. I confess that I've vacuummed many Barbie shoes and Legos out of laziness. I sometimes don't jump in the shower until after lunch. I have an addiction to House Hunters. I can't type very well...it's a mess of my fingers flying across the keyboard. And I'm a writer? Ha. :)

I like avatars myself. They say something about the confidence of someone who doesn't mind cartooning themselves. Or maybe it's just because I use an avatar, too!

Silly me!! I never though to look in your "About Me" page before this post...duh!! You are so beautiful! And though your avatar is cute, it doesn't do you one bit of justice! I also prefer to multi task with text and emails instead of actual phone calls. I think it's a bad habit, but this busy girl has no time for chit chatting ;o)

Ahah!I do ALL those things! All you gotta do is replace every reference to children to 'dog' ;o)

The picture of you and your son is precious!

As for me,I sit around writing all day, drinking way too much coffee and letting the dishes stack up in the sink.

Around 3:00,the transformation begins..Writer Person becomes Super Mom, Snack-Maker, Carpool Driver, Chef (well, whatever can be thrown in the crockpot)and Laundress.

I secretly love Wednesdays, when my kids don't come home 'till four, giving me an extra hour to write!

Hey Christina- nice post. I like it when people show their darker sides, but I can't believe you don't iron! *wink*

Awesome truths.

My truths:
I'm relearning the art of wearing shoes, instead of slipping mudwadders on to take the dog out. Goes the same for showering and putting make-up on. For some reason it's more conductive for writing, if I act like I'm getting ready to go out. (Strangeness abounds in my head).

Out of five years of blogging, it wasn't until 2 years ago I actually posted a picture of me online. My then shoulder length hair is now 4 inches past (just cropped off 2 inches or it would have been longer). I don't know why, but having my picture taken is akin to the native belief, pictures steal your soul. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. (Hugs)Indigo

Good on you (we don't have an iron either) - the most important thing is loving snuggle bunny as much as you so obviously do.

Yay for the truths! Love getting to know more about you:-)

I too love the truths. I especially love the randomness of them.

Oh and by the way, the Lourie link doesn't work.

It's great to get to know you better. I never iron either. :)

I love this! You and your little guy are adorable. And I'm totally onboard with using the dryer to get the wrinkles out.

Awesome post!

Thanks for posting it for us.

What's this ironing you speak of? Haha! Our downstairs closet doesn't have a light right now either. No one has bothered to change it, and everyone flips the switch like it will magically turn on. I still check on my babies. 13, 10, and 5. I can't go to bed unless I do. Thanks for the shout out! I loved getting to know the real you.

What a great picture!! And I really liked all of the "about me" stuff you shared. I feel like I know you even more. And like you even more because ironing is a waste of time.

Debbie said...

Hey now. You open that can, heat that soup, and make that sandwich. That is cooking!

I love it. Some of the things you said make me think we must have been separated at birth. Especially the ironing thing. Great to know more about you.

You are a cutie pie! I never iron either. Why should we when we have such things as wrinkle releasing sprays!

I used to love talking on the phone, but now I am simply not interested in that at all. In fact, I'd rather snail mail a request and wait for the response than pick up the phone and talk to anyone.

Wow! Love the truths and love the picture!

I also DO NOT iron. My husband jokes that I don't know what that triangular, metal shaped apparatus is even for! For Christmas one year, he bought me a steamer. I was offended for about 10 minutes. Then I put it in my bedroom, and I've been steaming clothes ever since.

I also don't know how to use that scary machine with the pointy stabbing thing and tangled strings -- yes, that MONSTER Elias Howe invented. But if you give me an actual needle and thread, I can sew on a button that will last the day, maybe even a week.

Whee, another tag! I love this one! I'm going to post one on my blog too. ^_^

I'm not a talking-on-the-phone fan either ... much, much prefer email and other forms of communication (hello, snail mail!). Glad I'm not the only one.

Haha, such a cute pic! And I stay in my pajamas all day any day that I can--the best clothes to write in, hands down!

That was fun, loved getting to know the real you! Yep first thing in the morning is the computer and I'm in my PJ's most of the day. I do iron but rarely cook.
