Give a Little, Get a Little

I have certain organizations I donate to every year, and yes, it feels good.

But there are other ways I help that are more personal and impact me on a deeper level.

Like the organization SPIRIT JUMP.

If you sign up, you'll get a call for help in your in-box when someone needs a boost. And boy does it put your life in perspective. The boost you give can be anything--a card, letter, or a little gift.

I just happen to have a jewelry business, so I usually make a piece for someone. But it never seems like enough.

Like last week. I stamped the letter K for for fifteen-year-old Kayla who lost her mother Kathy to cancer and had to live with relatives.

And a B for Shari who lost her husband Bruce to cancer.

I agonized over the stone color and what to write in the card. But it felt REALLY good sending those two packages off.

Heard of the Nashville Floods? There are three writers who've been having an auction for the past seven days to help. It's on the site Do the Write Thing for Nashville.

Agents, authors, editors and artists have donated items. It's amazing watching what people bid to help.

I donated jewelry from my Tags-n-Stones site and it's up for auction THIS WEEKEND! Bid for a good cause?

So what is everyone up to this weekend?

Whatever it is, I hope you have a good one!

I've never heard of Spirit Jump before. I might have to look into it. Though, the huz says I have too many "ideas" already so it might just have to be my litle secret!

Have a good weekend.

Spirit Jump is awesome. To send the jewelry is great! I am sure the recipients will treasure them. My SIL and I participated in the cards for cancer day. It was really a cool deal.

Hopefully, I can sleep in a little this weekend!

Good for you! I always tingle in my heart of hearts when I hear that folks are "getting involved." This weekend? Well, it's the first in a while where I don't have to grade papers. Soooooooo...perhaps a nap and a little gardening?

Charity is one of the most noble things we can do for each other. And yes, sometimes, charity is right on an elderly that wants to be heard, or a friend that needs advice, someone who needs a smile, we can help each other is so many ways. Beautiful act in orther to help the victims from the flood btw! =D

Possibly working on the garage. It's a scary place in there. I was told many years go to do volunteer work. I never did. Maybe I should!

How generous of you to donate! Good for you!
This weekend I'm hoping it'll stop raining long enough for me to get some gardening done...
